Margaret von Kaenel has been accepted to teach a Grisaille Ornament class at the International Decorative Artisans League on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 8:00am – 5:00pm in Charlotte, North Carolina.
GRISAILLE ORNAMENT: During the class, students will learn how to make an ornament cartoon and pounce pattern via lecture. Following the lecture, each student will receive a cartoon and pounce the pattern onto a 14-inch by 38-inch prepared surface of cambric cloth. Cambric cloth is an easy medium to paint upon as well as easy to transport. Margaret will demonstrate step by step this age old Italian chiaroscuro style technique of trompe l’oeil grisaille painting. The step by step techniques will allow the students to learn how to create custom grisaille trompe l’oeil for their clients walls and furniture. Each student will leave with a beautifully hand painted sample as well as a step by step instruction manual.
