A Gathering of International Decorative Artists
Margaret von Kaenel participated in The SALON New York City 2017.
The 2018 gathering will be in the Netherlands.
The SALON is a gathering of dedicated decorative artists from around the world that come together to exhibit their work and to discuss old and new techniques, products, and information in the field of decorative arts. The first Salon began in 1992 in Belgium and included a small gathering of professionals. It reconvened in 1996 and has been coming together in growing numbers every year since. This international exhibit is now recognized as the most important and significant gathering of decorative painters in the world.
Participants of The Salon include teachers from decorative arts schools as well as those who are independent commercial craftspeople. The Salon is a way for some of the most unique traditions (ancient to modern) within the field of decorative arts to be shared amongst one another and ultimately passed onto participants’ students. This opportunity enhances and extends the level of communication between serious and committed craftspeople.
The Salon is also a way for visitors and the public to experience the high quality of work presently available throughout the world and the opportunity to meet real masters of their craft. Ongoing demonstrations will be featured by those considered tops in their discipline. An exhibit hall will allow visitors and participants to view work specifically created for The Salon.
