Margaret von Kaenel is exhibiting at the International Decorative Painters SALON in Horsens, Denmark May 8 through May 11, 2025 which is presented at FAENGSLET. Over 25 countries are represented. This group of artists meet once a year to share their work in the exhibition and live painting event.
Margaret’s 40-inch by 72-inch panel was inspired by Arthur Rackham’s Illustration of the Valkyrie Brunnhilde which was inspired by Richard Wagner’s epic opera “The Ring of the Nibelung”. The imagery in the borders was taken, and in some cases, modified from “The Anatomy of Viking Art” by Jonas Lau Markussen. Margaret’s muse for the model is Host Heidi Zilmer. The panel features shaibin gold leaf on distressed copper leaf on the outer border and painted white gold leaf on the figure’s armor.
SALON HORSENS 2025 is hosted by Heidi Zilmer and Dansk Dekorationsmalerlaug. May 8 – 11, 2025. For more information visit https://salonhorsens.com
